Day 1
"The wheels on the bus go round and round" the class chanted while we were driving to Kakepuku. The drive seemed to go really quickly because I kept myself amused by annoying the driver with the song. When we had arrived at the base of the majestic mountain, the parents hadn’t arrived yet so we waited for a while we didn't want to go up without them. While we were waiting Mr Woody started yapping on about the place being different since last time he came, I heard some bits about no big cows or electric fences and there were no informative signs. Half an hour passed and still no sign of any parents so Mr Woody suggested we start climbing the tall mountain. Most of the class agreed to this idea but a small group stayed behind to wait for the parents just in case they were really late.
As we were venturing into the bush the decision was made that we create groups so we didn't get lost and I decided to go with my mates Richard, Sebastien and Adnan. Suddenly there was a loud and mysterious squawk, which I thought was quite odd but it was probably only a native bird call that I've never heard before. After a few minutes of vigorous walking and looking at the beautiful bush around us we finally came to a clearing with rocks scattered everywhere. It was about noon so we decided to have lunch in this little clearing. Richard yelled "hey over here!" We looked at him and saw he had good spot to eat lunch, we quickly ran towards him and sat down and started munching on our delicious lunch and having sips of cold water from our water bottles. While I was eating I noticed that Mr Woody had mysteriously disappeared but I thought that he just needed a toilet break.
Once we had finished eating, we noticed a little track leading into the dense bush that looked like it had been stomped down by an animal. We thought it probably wouldn't hurt to do a bit of exploring. I then noticed a hoof print on the ground leading down the track and recognised it was a boar's hoof print. I told my group about it. We decided to follow the boar so we said our goodbyes to the rest of our class and ventured down the track leading into the dense bush. After a few minutes of walking through the wonderful bush we came to a big pile of dung which must have been left by the boar.
Richard said “I wonder how fresh that is?” then he stuck his boot in it. The poo squished very easily and went all mushy so it must have been fresh. Suddenly something started rustling in the bushes.
"What was that?" Sebastien said nervously.
"It's only a bird" Adnan said smartly. But then I saw a black shadow quickly zoom past us.
"Did you see that?" I said
“No” they all said. They probably thought I was trying to play tricks on them. However, I wasn't so sure, it really gave me the creeps.
Suddenly out of nowhere a crazy wild boar started charging towards us we all knew what to do RUN! We all started running for our lives like it was what we were destined to do. Suddenly Richard tripped on a log, but before any of us could help him there was a loud scream. The horrible beast had dug its white tusk into the side of poor Richard’s body. Richard only just managed to get out his Swiss army knife and stab the terrible creature back, it squealed as it fled the scene like a criminal. The wound was quite big so Sebastien told us we had to find a kawa kawa tree as its leaves can ease the pain and some flax to tie up the wound like a bandage. Sebastien, Adnan and I set out looking for the tree. While I was looking I heard Sebastien yell out "got some!" so I hurried back to Richard. Sebastien and Adnan were already there with the leaves and flax. Sebastien told Richard to chew the flat, circular leaves and put them on the wound. "Eww no" Richard said in disgust but his wound thought otherwise so he chewed the leaves into a green paste and put them on the wound. Sebastien then tied the flax around his body.
'It's not working" Richard said agonisingly.
"It will take some time to soothe the pain" Sebastien replied. We helped Richard up and carried on we didn't want that creature coming back.
Finally we came to another clearing surrounded by bush. It was getting dark and as this looked like a good to sleep we decided to set up camp. We all had a job except Richard who stayed there with his Swiss army knife out. I went out to get firewood for fire to keep warm and the others were getting things for the hut. There was quite a bit of dry logs and broken sticks around so I had the easy job. When I returned with some fire wood the others had already set up a hut, it was marvellous with stick walls and a flax roof. Sebastien took the logs from me and put them on the ground and added some dry, dead leaves on top. Then he started hitting two pieces of flint together that he had in his bag. Slowly sparks started coming out and we had a lovely and warm fire. Then Sebastien said we had to find some Piko Piko if we wanted to eat dinner. We started searching for some; I managed to find some and grabbed a handful. When I came back with my Piko Piko we sat around the fire and started eating the plant. "Yum" I said sarcastically. Once we finished our food we decided to hit the sack we had had a long day and were all tired. In the night I woke up to some really strange noises but I nodded back off to sleep anyway.

Day 2 PUBLISHED
Day 2
The next day I woke before Richard and suddenly I saw that Adnan and Sebastien were gone. I quickly woke Richard; I said that Adnan and Sebastien had gone. We went out of our hut and looked up at the sky the clouds looked strange, they were really quite grey and beaten looking.
“What’s that noise?” Richard asked.
“I think it’s a storm” I replied.
We then saw a small trail leading into the bush and thought something might have happened to our friends, so we decided to make weapons just in case. We made them from flax, sticks and stone. It took many tries but eventually we made our weaponry. I created a rock sling and Richard made an axe thing. We thought Sebastien and Adnan might have gone down that trail so we decided to follow it ourselves.
While we were walking along in the bush we tried to find food. After a long time of walking we heard a rustling in the bush, we got ready to attack because it might be another boar (we couldn’t take any chances). Just as we were about to strike some familiar faces popped out Jordan and James.
“What are you doing here?” I quickly asked.
They said “once you guys had gone up the mountain we waited for another half an hour but the parents still hadn’t turned up so we followed you.”
We then exchanged stories and it turned out they also had a friend disappear, another one had eaten poison berries and they talked to a Dog Man. Me and Richard told them about how Mr. Woody and some of our group had also disappeared. We decided to team up and to continue up the mountain.
After ages of walking we finally reached the top, boy it was beautiful up there. However there was also something other than the breathtaking sight. It was a square pyramid with about 5 massive steps on each side but there was no visible entrance so we walked around the strange structure. Since there was no entrance we climbed to the top of the pyramid thinking we could find a way inside. However, by the time we got to the fourth step we were exhausted. Richard just happened to lean on the fifth step; amazingly the step moved revealing a dark pit. There seemed to be no way to climb down the pit, so we climbed back down the steps and got a rock. We threw it down the pit and heard a wio wio wio wio then nothing.
We decided to make a human chain with me on the end dangling in the dark pit. Suddenly I started to panic and to squirm and unfortunately I fell down down into the pit. As I was falling it was completely black until these ancient numbers that were gold started spinning slowly around me. I stopped feeling the sensation of falling; suddenly the gold numbers started speeding around me really quickly until they all disappeared in a flash of golden light. I looked up and saw a speck of light that somehow I was attracted to. For some reason the light came closer and closer until whoosh I passed my friends, I was flying! I soon landed next to my friends. “I think I found the way out, but it might not be safe and I might have super powers” I said to the others. They probably thought that was pretty cool me flying in mid air and all.
Suddenly there was a rustling in the bushes and some more familiar faces Hillary, Leina, Linda and Courtney appeared. We told them about the pyramid and how I fell in and how I have super powers.
Then Jordan said “why don’t we all jump in.”
Since nobody disagreed we counted 1, 2, 3 jump and we all jumped in. For some reason the pyramid rejected me and I went zooming into the sky. I looked down and everything looked so tiny like looking at an ant hill. Just then I saw a crater on the mountain it seemed to be getting closer, then I realised I was falling.
“Aah!” I shrieked as I was falling down to earth.
Just as I was about to hit the ground and probably die, there was a bright blue flash. I stopped just before I hit the ground I couldn’t believe my eyes.
The thing that had stopped me hitting the ground was ice! I ripped my body out and checked if I had hurt myself. I hadn’t but my body was made of ice! I just couldn’t believe it. I just stood in that one spot waiting for my brain to believe what was happening. Maybe I had gone mad but if I was mad how come I knew about it so I wasn’t mad. I thought maybe I could freeze things. I stuck my arms out and aimed at a tree, thought about it being frozen and suddenly a blue stream came out of my hands and the tree became covered in ice. Just then a whirring noise came over head I looked up and saw a silver figure on a board flying. It saw me and flew towards me. When it came face to face with me it looked strangely familiar like Sebastien.
“Sebastien” I said.
“Joseph?” he replied.
It definitely was Sebastien; it was really great to see a new friend.
“What happened to you?” I asked.
He said that someone had kidnapped him and he ate a funny mushroom and turned into this thing. I told him about the pyramid and things.
I then noticed how it was getting dark. We decided to get ready for the night. We saw a berry bush and thought it wouldn’t hurt to eat some and we grabbed a handful each. As I popped the purple berry in my mouth it froze when I looked at Sebastien his berry had turned silver. We decided to set up camp and I thought maybe if I froze a branch it would make it brittle and easy to snap. In fact, my theory was right it snapped right off. I did the same with three other branches and stabbed them in the ground and made an ice roof. Unfortunately I had lost my equipment when in mid air so I just lay under the stars and thought about what had happened to me these last days. I eventually dozed off. In the night my dreams seemed to be evil like someone was trying to control my mind.

Day 3 PUBLISHED
Day 3
The next morning I woke to the pitter patter of rain drops. I looked over at Sebastien and saw he was still in a deep sleep probably having a lovely dream. I then started staring into thin air remembering what it was like at home with a nice snug bed, cool toys and the yummy food. I really wished that I was home.
Sebastien yawned as he was up and rubbed his eyes.
“Nice sleep?” I asked
“Yes” he replied as he did another big yawn.
“It’s raining” I said. I stepped out of the shelter and into the cold rain but I didn’t feel it because I was made of ice. I looked at my body to see how wet I was, an amazing thing instead of the water dribbling off my arms it went into my skin I quickly ran under the shelter I was dry as a fallen autumn leaf
“Sebastien, look at me. Am I wet?”
“No, why?” he replied wearily
“Well I was just out in the rain and I’m dry!” I said quickly. Suddenly his eyes lit up
“That is sooo cool!” he shouted
“I know!”
There was a short silence because the rain had stopped. Since neither of us was hungry we set out exploring more of this mysterious mountain. Sebastien hopped on his silver board and I thought I could freeze a path for myself. Sebastien zoomed off into the air as I gently slid across my ice. After a few minutes of this, I saw little blasts on the ground.
“Hey Sebastien look down there” I said and he looked down and saw them too.
“Should we go down?” I asked curiously.
“Yeah ok” he replied blandly.
We slowly made our descent down and heard people shouting and loud blasts. Once we touched the ground there were all these weird fairy things that looked agonized flying around. BOOM a big fireball exploded right next to us and another came right towards us. I quickly made an ice wall to stop it. I froze a fairy thing to a tree to ask it what was going on.
“What’s happening?” I yelled.
It looked at me blankly so I tried again
“What’s happening?”
This time it replied.
“This is a battle!” it yelled back.
“It’s a battle going on” I yelled to Sebastien.
“Of course it is” he yelled back as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Come on lets get out of here” Sebastien said.
He quickly hopped back on his board as did I. Slowly Sebastien and I rose into the air and we were off, it was a bit wobbly at first but I froze my feet to the board. I suggested we go to the top of the mountain so we did I could see so much from this high as the view was just like the one I had when the pyramid rejected me. Once we had got to the very top of the mountain the majestic pyramid was still there.
“That’s the way home Sebastien” I said.
Sebastien’s eyes grew wide when he saw the marvellous place; we landed down at the bottom of the beautiful pyramid. I ripped my feet out of the ice holds and stepped off, the top step was still lifted so Sebastien and I stood on it.
“Ready?” I asked
“Ready,” he replied.
1, 2, 3, jump.
We both jumped and started the long fall back home.
But somehow I kept falling.
Just kept falling.
